A professional oven cleaning service is a strip down rather than a wipe out. The racks, trays, side rails and usually the inner door glass come out of the appliance and go into a soak, and the cavity is cleaned while they sit. It is the only way to reach the baked-on carbon in the corners and between the door glass, which is exactly where an oven looks worst. TLB Cleaning cleans ovens, barbecues and appliances across the Northern Rivers and the Tweed.

The same method covers a barbecue and most other appliances. Grill plates, burners and a fat tray come out and soak the same way a set of oven racks does, and a rangehood filter is the same job again in miniature. What changes is the size of the parts and how much grease is on them.

People arrive here with three questions.
Which one is yours?

  • A well-used stainless barbecue with the lid open on the timber deck of a coastal home

People are coming over and I have looked at the barbecue

Grill plates, burners, the fat tray and the grey layer on the inside of the hood. It is a two hour job with a wire brush and a bad mood, or it is a booking.

  • A TLB cleaner and a homeowner talking through the job in a living room

We are moving out and the oven has to pass

The oven is the most common thing a property manager pulls a bond clean up on, and the door glass is the most common thing inside the oven. It usually costs less to have it done than to lose part of the bond over it.

    End of lease cleaning
  • A TLB cleaner in uniform with her caddy in the entry hall of a home

I want to know who is in my home

You can meet the team looking after your place before the first visit. They live in your area, insured and police-checked, how we get in is agreed when you book, and you get a message when we are on the way.

    Why TLB

How our oven cleaning service works, stage by stage

The same method covers a barbecue and most other appliances. Soak time does the work, not scrubbing.

It comes apart first

Racks, side rails, trays, burners and grill plates all come out. On most ovens the inner door glass comes out too, which is the difference between an oven that looks clean and one that looks clean from the sofa.

The parts go in to soak

Soaking does the work that scrubbing otherwise has to, which is why a proper job takes time rather than muscle.

The cavity is cleaned while they sit

Roof, floor, back, seals and the corners where carbon collects. The fan cover and the element surrounds get done at the same time. Nothing here needs to be forced, because the products have already been given time to work.

The door glass, both sides of both panes

The brown film sits between the two panes of glass, so wiping the outside never touches it. Separating the door is the only way to reach it, and it is the single most noticeable part of the whole job when it is done.

Rebuilt, wiped down and tested

Everything goes back where it came from, the seals go back on properly, and the appliance is turned on to check it works before we leave. Your kitchen gets wiped down after us rather than left as the evidence.

The other appliances, same visit

Rangehood and filters, the inside of the fridge, the microwave and the cooktop are the usual extras, and they are quicker done at the same time than booked separately.

What the cooktop looks like afterwards

Months of boil-overs and spills, baked on and wiped around. Drag the handle to see the difference.

What the self-clean cycle actually does

The self-clean cycle on a conventional oven is not what most people think it is. On a pyrolytic oven it is real: the oven locks and runs itself up to around 500 degrees, burning residue down to a fine ash you wipe out afterwards. It works, it smells strongly for a few hours, and it puts every seal, element and control board in the appliance through a very hard afternoon. It is also the only cleaning method the manufacturer of a pyrolytic oven will endorse, because the enamel coating inside it can be damaged by the caustic products used on ordinary ovens.

On an oven that is not pyrolytic, the "self clean" setting usually just means a steam assist function, which softens light residue and does nothing at all to baked-on carbon. Either way, none of it touches the film between the door glass, because that is not inside the cavity. If the door of your oven is the part that looks bad, no cycle of any kind will fix it. Somebody has to take the door apart.

Teagan and her team are just fantastic. I have been getting fortnightly cleans done for almost a year. Great service, professional and very kind. Will be utilising their services for a long time.

  • James Matthews

    Sept 2026

We've got an Airbnb up in the Northern Rivers hinterland, about an hour from home, and finding cleaners we could actually rely on out there was a nightmare. We went through a few before we found Teagan and the TLB team, and honestly we haven't looked back. Teagan works straight off our bookings, restocks everything and sends us a quick update after each clean. We don't have to chase a thing. When you can't just pop over and check on the place, that's worth a lot. Can't recommend them enough.

Easy to book, fast quoting, cost effective

Managed for you. A date that suits you, a confirmation in writing, a message when we are on the way, and told first if anything changes.

Book online in a couple of minutes, or send a text, ring us or email, whichever you'd actually do.

Condition drives the price on work like this, so the honest answer is a fast quote rather than an instant one. Tell us what you've got and roughly what state it's in, and we'll come back with a number quickly. Photos are usually enough. If it needs eyes on it, we'll say so rather than guess.

You'll know the price before we start, not after. If the job turns out smaller than you described, we'll tell you rather than hold you to the bigger number. If it needs more time than we quoted, you'll hear that before we begin.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the job.
  2. We confirm the price and agree a time and access.
  3. We do the clean, and you get a message when we're on the way.
  4. If something needs fixing, you hear it from us first.

Booking an oven or BBQ clean

1. Will the kitchen smell of chemicals afterwards?

It should not. The parts soak away from the cavity rather than sitting in the room, the oven is wiped out and rinsed rather than left coated, and we ventilate while we work. If you are sensitive to smells, or someone in the house is pregnant or asthmatic, tell us when you book so we can plan the ventilation properly.

2. How long does an oven take?

Usually a couple of hours for a standard oven, because most of that is soak time rather than scrubbing. A double oven, a very neglected one or an oven plus a cooktop and rangehood takes longer. You can use it as soon as we are finished, and we will have run it briefly to check it before we go.

3. Do you clean pyrolytic and self-cleaning ovens?

We clean the outside, the door glass, the racks and the trays, but we do not chemically clean the inside of a pyrolytic cavity. The special coating in those ovens can be damaged by the products used on a standard oven, and the manufacturer’s own high temperature cycle is the method they specify. We will tell you which type you have if you are not sure.

4. Can you do the barbecue at the same time?

Yes, and it is a sensible way to do it, because it is the same soak and the same visit. Barbecues are usually worse than people expect underneath the plates, particularly the fat tray and the inside of the hood. Tell us the rough size and how long it has been when you book.

5. What happens if I get in touch?

Tell us what you have: oven, oven and cooktop, a barbecue, the fridge, or the lot. We will give you a price and a time. Most people get more than one thing done in the same visit because the second appliance costs less than a separate booking.

Oven, BBQ and appliance cleaning questions

1. What is the difference between a pyrolytic and a self-cleaning oven?

A pyrolytic oven has a genuine high temperature cycle: it locks the door, heats to around 500 degrees and reduces residue to ash that you wipe out. Most ovens marketed as self cleaning are not pyrolytic and have a steam assist function instead, which loosens light soil and does nothing to baked-on carbon. Check your manual for the word pyrolytic rather than relying on the marketing.

2. Why is the oven door glass brown on the inside?

Because grease and steam get between the two panes of glass through the vents in the top of the door, condense there and bake on. It is on a surface you cannot reach from either side, which is why it survives every clean you have ever done. The only way to it is to separate the door, and on most ovens that is straightforward for someone who has done it before.

3. How often should an oven be cleaned?

Every six to twelve months suits most households, and more often if you roast a lot or the oven is used daily. Between cleans, wiping spills while the oven is still warm rather than letting them bake on again is what keeps the interval long. A tray under anything likely to bubble over saves more work than any product.

4. Is it safe to clean an oven with bicarbonate and vinegar?

It is mild and it will not damage an oven, but it is slow and it does not touch heavy baked-on carbon, which is what most people are actually trying to remove. It also cannot reach between the door panes. It is a reasonable maintenance habit and a poor rescue. ⚠️ Whatever you use, never mix cleaning products together, and never mix anything with bleach.

5. How much does oven cleaning cost?

Usually priced per appliance, so an oven, a cooktop, a rangehood and a barbecue are separate line items, generally with a lower rate when several are done in one visit. Size and condition move it: a double oven or one that has not been touched in years takes longer. That's why we quote rather than publish a flat rate that would be wrong for most kitchens. Tell us the basics and you'll have a price back quickly, with no obligation attached to it.
