Book a window clean for your homeWindow cleaning is the washing of the glass, frames, sills and tracks of a home, inside and out, so light comes through the way it did when the windows were new. TLB Cleaning cleans windows across the Northern Rivers, the Tweed and the Southern Gold Coast, either as a one-off or on a schedule with your regular clean.
Window cleaning and window washing describe the same job. What sets a coastal home apart is the film on the outside of the glass, which is salt as much as dust. Salt spray dries on the surface and holds grime against it, so a coastal window looks hazy again far sooner than an inland one, and it will not come off with a squirt of glass cleaner and paper towel.
People arrive here for three reasons.
Which one is yours?
-

The glass has gone cloudy and I cannot fix it
That haze is salt and hard water, not dirt, and it sits on the glass in a layer that wiping makes worse. One proper clean takes it back to clear, and you get the tracks and the flyscreens done at the same time.

The high ones have not been done in years
Nobody wants to carry a ladder around the side of the house, and on a slope nobody should. First-floor glass gets reached from the ground with a water-fed pole, which is safer for us and costs you less than scaffolding.

I want it done with everything else
Windows twice a year, gutters before the wet season, and your regular clean carrying on as normal. Same local team, one number to ring, and we are insured. You set it up once and stop thinking about it.

Why coastal windows go hazy faster
Salt does not blow onto glass as grit and sit there. It arrives as fine spray, dries into a film and then holds every bit of dust and pollen that lands afterwards against the surface. That is why a window three streets back from the beach can look worse than one in a paddock, and why the haze comes back sooner here than anywhere inland.
It also means dry wiping makes it worse. Rubbing a dry salt film across glass drags the grit it is holding, and on older glass that leaves fine scratching you cannot polish out. The fix is water, a wash and a squeegee, not a cloth and a spray bottle.
Salt film, and the same pane without it.

Two questions before you book anyone
Two questions sort out a window cleaner quickly, and neither of them is about price.
- How do you reach the upstairs glass? A pole from the ground is safe and needs nothing from you. A ladder leaned against a gutter bends the gutter, and a ladder on soft ground beside a paved courtyard is how people get hurt on a job that was meant to be simple.
- What is included besides the glass? If frames, sills, tracks and screens are extra, the quote you are comparing is not the same job. This is where a low number usually comes from.
The other thing worth knowing is that clean glass shows every mark on everything around it. Windows are usually the first exterior job people book and the one that makes them look at the walls, the gutters and the roof for the first time in years. That is normal, and it is why we quote the outside of a house as a whole when you ask us to.
The rest of the outside
Windows are usually where people start. These are the other four, and they are often quoted together.
- Gutter cleaningGutters, valleys and downpipes cleared and flushed, and the debris taken away with us.
- Roof cleaningSoft washing that kills the algae and lichen at the root, on tile or colorbond.
- High pressure cleaningDriveways, paths, patios, pool surrounds and fences, at a pressure the surface can take.
- Exterior house washingWalls, eaves, soffits and window frames washed down so the whole house looks newer.
How TLB compares
The person on your windows is on our team, and they will be the one who comes back next time.

| When someone is away | A different contractor | Rebook for another week | Someone from your team covers, and we let you know first |
| How you book | Online only | Text or a phone call | Online, text, phone or email |
| Reminders | Automated | Usually none | Before the day, and again when we're on our way |
| Holiday lets | A standard turnover | Depends on availability | Worked straight off your booking calendar |
| Your schedule | Whatever slot is available | Whenever they can fit you in | A set day and a set team |
| Commitment | Often a subscription | None | No lock-in, no minimum term, no exit fee |
| Where they live | Wherever the contractor is based | Locally | In the towns they clean in, across the region |

Easy to book, fast quoting, cost effective
Managed for you. A date that suits you, a confirmation in writing, a message when we are on the way, and told first if anything changes.
Book online in a couple of minutes, or send a text, ring us or email, whichever you'd actually do.
Condition drives the price on work like this, so the honest answer is a fast quote rather than an instant one. Tell us what you've got and roughly what state it's in, and we'll come back with a number quickly. Photos are usually enough. If it needs eyes on it, we'll say so rather than guess.
You'll know the price before we start, not after. If the job turns out smaller than you described, we'll tell you rather than hold you to the bigger number. If it needs more time than we quoted, you'll hear that before we begin.
How it works
- Tell us about the job.
- We confirm the price and agree a time and access.
- We do the clean, and you get a message when we're on the way.
- If something needs fixing, you hear it from us first.
Booking a window clean
1. Do you do the inside of the windows as well?
Usually yes, and most people want both, because clean glass outside makes the inside obvious. If we are doing the inside we work around you, put mats down under each window and take the tracks and sills as we go.
2. How often should we get them done?
Twice a year suits most homes here, and the closer you are to the beach the more that matters. Holiday lets and homes right on the water often go quarterly, because guests photograph the view and salt film shows up in every one of those photos. We can put it on the same schedule as your regular clean.
3. Can you reach our upstairs windows?
First-floor glass is done from the ground with a water-fed pole, so there is no ladder against your gutter and nothing for you to hold. If a window is genuinely unsafe to reach we will say so rather than improvise.
4. Does anyone need to be home?
Not for the outside. We need side access, the gate unlocked and any dogs sorted out, and a tap we can use if we are running a pole system. For inside glass someone needs to let us in, or we use whatever arrangement your regular clean already runs on.
5. What happens if it rains after you have been?
Clean glass stays clean through rain. Rain is only a problem on glass that was already dirty, because it runs the film down the pane in streaks. If a storm drops mud or salt spray on windows the same week we did them, ring us and we will look at it.
Window cleaning FAQs
1. What is pure water window cleaning?
Water run through a filter that strips out the dissolved minerals, then fed up a telescopic pole to a soft brush head. Because there is nothing left in the water to dry on the glass, the pane can be left wet and it dries clear with no spots. That is what makes cleaning first-floor windows from the ground possible at all.
2. How often should windows be cleaned in a coastal home?
Twice a year is the usual settling point, quarterly for homes on the water or holiday lets that are photographed constantly, and once a year is enough well back in the hinterland. Salt film is the variable. The nearer the surf and the more onshore wind a wall faces, the sooner the haze comes back.
3. Can hard water stains be removed from glass?
Fresh spotting comes off with a wash. Spotting that has been baking on for years is different, because the minerals slowly etch into the surface of the glass and the mark is then in the glass rather than on it. It can often be improved with a polish, not always fully removed, and a sprinkler hitting a window every morning is the usual cause.
4. Is it safe to clean upstairs windows yourself?
Ladder falls at home are common and often serious, and the risk goes up on the ground most houses actually have: soft soil, a slope, pavers, or a gutter that flexes when a ladder leans on it. Working from the ground with a pole avoids the fall entirely, which is why professionals moved to poles for anything above the ground floor.
5. How much does window cleaning cost?
Window cleaning is usually priced per window or per pane, with a minimum charge for small jobs, and the rate moves with height, access, how many are sliding doors and whether screens and tracks are included. That's why we quote rather than publish a flat rate that would be wrong for most homes. Ask for the price against a written list of what is covered rather than an hourly rate. Tell us the basics and you'll have a price back quickly, with no obligation attached to it.
