It employs its cleaners rather than subcontracting them. That is the whole reason we can promise a set day and the same faces, with cover from within the same team when somebody is away.
There has never been an advertisement. Every client so far came from somebody recommending us to somebody else.
TLB takes care of properties. Cleaning is where we started.
How TLB started
Teagan started out cleaning houses around Alstonville herself, with a car full of gear and a few clients who told their friends about her. The friends told their friends. That is the entire marketing history of this business.
What she did next is the part that matters. Rather than taking on more work than one person can do properly, she hired local people and put them on the books, then built the roster around the towns they already live in. Nobody drives an hour to get to your place.
The result is a business that behaves like a small one and runs like a larger one. You get a set day, a team you recognise, a message before we come, and one local number to ring.
What we actually mean by local
Four things that are either true of a cleaning business or not, rather than four adjectives.
Family first
We are local families ourselves. We know what it is like juggling work, school drop-offs, sport, appointments and everything else that fills a week. That is why we understand what a reliable cleaner actually gives you: one less thing to organise, and a bit more time back for everything else.
Local, and locally owned
Nobody buys the right to trade under our name. When you book TLB you are booking the people who answer the phone, and they live between Lismore and the Tweed the same as you do.
Employed, not subcontracted
Our cleaners are on the books rather than sent out under an ABN with their own gear. It is the more expensive way to run a cleaning business and it is the only way to promise you the same faces.
The last five minutes
The details you actually notice all happen at the end: the tap dried off, the bin liner replaced, the cushions straightened, the door locked the way you asked. That is the part we train.
Grown by word of mouth, not advertising.
TLB grew to a full team, with work coming from real estate agencies across the region, before it had a website. It got there on recommendations from people who had us in their own homes.
That is a slower way to grow and it has one large advantage. Every job here was won by the last one being done properly, so nobody has any reason to rush your clean.
You can meet your cleaner before the first visit
Ask when you book and we will introduce whoever is looking after your place, by phone or at the door, before they clean anything. Plenty of clients skip it and would rather come home to it done. Both are fine, and you can change your mind later.

1. Who owns TLB Cleaning?
Teagan Burke, who started the business cleaning houses around Alstonville herself and still runs it. TLB is locally owned and locally run. It is not a franchise, a licensee, or a trading name for a larger company somewhere else.
2. Are your cleaners employees or contractors?
Employees. They are on the books, on set days, with the same clients each week. That costs more to run than dispatching contractors, and it is what makes a set team possible rather than whoever happens to be available that morning.
3. Will I get the same cleaner every time?
Yes, wherever we can. Your place is assigned to a team and that is who you will see. If someone is away, another member of your team covers the visit and we let you know beforehand rather than surprising you at the door.
4. Where is TLB Cleaning based?
The business started in Alstonville, and the team lives right across the Northern Rivers and the Tweed, inland and on the coast. We also cross the border into Coolangatta, Palm Beach and Burleigh Heads. Our cleaners work in the towns they already live in.
5. Can I meet my cleaner before the first clean?
Yes. Ask when you book and we will introduce whoever is looking after your place before they start. Most clients are happy to skip it and come home to the work done, so it is offered rather than assumed.
6. Am I locked into a contract?
No. There is no minimum term, no exit fee, and you can pause or skip a visit when you need to. Most clients stay because the arrangement is working, not because they signed something at the start.
7. Do you bring your own equipment and products?
Yes, we arrive with everything we need. If you would rather we used a particular product on a particular surface, leave it out and tell us, and it becomes part of the notes for your place so nobody has to be told twice.
