Work with us
Cleaning work that fits
around school pick-up.
We employ local cleaners right across the Northern Rivers and the Tweed, on set days, in the towns they already live in.
Talk to Teagan and the teamWhat the work actually is
Most of the work is regular home cleaning on a set run: the same houses, the same days, week after week or fortnight after fortnight. You get to know the places and the people in them, and they get to know you.
Alongside that there are holiday let turnovers, which are quicker and tied to a check-in time, bond cleans at the end of a tenancy, which are checked against an inspection standard, and commercial work outside trading hours.
It is physical work and the standard is high. The same client sees your work again next fortnight, which is the best and the hardest thing about the job.
What the arrangement offers
Four things that either happen at a cleaning job or do not.
A run of your own
You get your own clients and your own days rather than a roster that changes every week. When you are away someone from your team covers, and you do the same for them, which is how nobody has to work sick.
Hours that fit the school day
Tell us the window you can genuinely work and we build the run around it. Most of the team is doing pick-up, so this is how the business already operates rather than a concession made for one person.
Gear and products supplied
You do not need to buy a vacuum, a caddy or chemicals to work here. We turn up with everything, which is also how the standard stays the same whichever member of the team is at the door.
Shown the standard first
Bond cleans and holiday let turnovers are measured against a standard rather than a feeling. You get shown that standard, and worked alongside, before you are sent out to meet it on your own.
What we ask of you
Two things matter more here than experience does:
- Turning up when you said you would, because a client has planned their day around it.
- Telling us early when you cannot, so the visit gets covered before anyone is left waiting at home.
Experience helps and it is not a requirement. A driver licence and your own transport between properties is, because the work is spread across towns rather than sitting in one building.
You do not need an ABN to clean with us
A lot of cleaning work in this region is offered as contracting. You invoice the business, you supply your own gear, you carry your own insurance, and the rights that come with a job do not come with it.
Ours is a job. It is worth asking any cleaning business which of the two they are offering you, and asking before you buy a vacuum rather than after.
How to apply
Three steps, and no application portal anywhere in them.
1. Send us a message
Tell us which town you are in, the hours you could genuinely work, and whether you have cleaned professionally before. A couple of paragraphs is plenty. There is no application form to fill in.
2. A chat with Teagan
A conversation rather than an interview panel, usually over the phone. What the runs near you look like, what hours suit, and anything you want to ask about how the work is organised.
3. A shift alongside the team
You work a run with someone who already does it, so you see the standard and we see how you work. Nobody gets handed a set of keys and a house on their first day.

Working at TLB: FAQs
1. Do I need cleaning experience?
No. Plenty of the team started without it. What we cannot train is turning up reliably and telling us early when something changes, so those matter more at the point of hiring than a work history in cleaning does.
2. Am I an employee or a contractor?
An employee, on the books. You do not invoice us, you do not need an ABN, and you do not supply your own equipment or insurance. If another cleaning business offers you work, it is worth asking them the same question.
3. Do you supply the equipment and products?
Yes. You arrive to a caddy, a vacuum and the products already sorted, the same as our clients are told. Using the same gear across the team is part of how the standard stays consistent from one visit to the next.
4. Do I need my own car?
Yes. A driver licence and reliable transport between properties are conditions of the work, because a run covers several places across a town or two rather than one building you clock into.
5. Can I work school hours only?
Yes, and most of the team does. Tell us the window you can actually commit to and we build a run inside it. That is the whole employment model rather than an exception somebody has negotiated.
6. Which towns are you hiring in?
We take applications from right across the Northern Rivers and the Tweed. Where the next run opens depends on where the work is, so tell us your town and we will be straight with you about what is near you.
Checking us out first?
Fair enough. This is the rest of what there is to read about how TLB runs.

Tell us what hours you can work.
Send us your town, your hours and a bit about yourself. Teagan reads them.
